Press Release

LUV Institute Selects Artists for Parade of Hearts Initiative

Parade of Hearts Artists: The Love, Unity & Values (LUV) Institute’s Parade of Hearts announces 11 artists creating large-scale, heart-shaped public sculptures in 12 South Side neighborhoods.

Each artist participated in a Peace Circle with community members to reflect upon the community’s experience of the COVID-19 pandemic and social justice tensions. The artists are tasked with capturing each community’s vision of a new normal and the path towards collective healing on a heart-shaped sculpture that will be placed in each community.

The cohort of local artists is led by longtime LUV collaborator Damon Lamar Reed. The creator of more than 170 murals in Chicago, Reed has worked with the LUV Institute to create several large scale art installations with students in Chicago Public Schools.
